Hello!

Today an interesting use case was discussed on the [Taler mailing-list](https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/taler). Let me cross-post it here.

[On 12/10/24 10:01, Filipe via Taler](https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/taler/2024-12/msg00006.html) wrote:

Hello! This was me 🙂

Well, in short, as soon as I came upon Taler, I immediately thought of local currencies. Of course, Taler is not a currency, but it can be thought of as a sort of “point system”? At least in my mind:

All small stores in (let’s say) Lisbon take LXCash (Lisbon Cash).
People can “buy” LXCash for Euros (1 for 1).
If you pay with LXCash at a store, you get a small discount.

You can also (maybe?) envision a scenario where the local government buys (from itself? from the national government?) some LXCoins, and gives it out to people, so they can spend it only on local stores, etc.

Is this use case intended/supported?

Keep up the great work! 🙂

Hello @filipesm!

Cool to see you here, welcome 😃

You did well, and that’s precisely why [Netzbon (Basel, Switzerland) is currently deploying it](https://www.netzbon.ch/e-netzbon/) 🙂

Also, be sure to have a look at [NGI Local for Local](https://localforlocal.io/)’s Open Call if you’re involved in a local currency organisation or if you’re close to one of those. It can grant 60 k€ for such deployments and accompany you in this process!

Thanks, we’ll make our best 🤝

Hi @filipesm, I just copied the announcement of the [Local for Local Open Call](https://ich.taler.net/t/open-call-local-for-local-currency/346). It’s open until January 31, FYI!

This: [https://docs.taler.net/libeufin/regional-automated-manual.html](https://docs.taler.net/libeufin/regional-automated-manual.html) delivers a 404? Has it moved somewhere else? Unhappily French is my second language so I can’t benefit from the talk.

Thanks in advance Hugh

Found it here: [https://docs.taler.net/regional/regional-custom-manual.html](https://docs.taler.net/regional/regional-custom-manual.html) so no reply needed now. Thanks.
