⚠ GNU Taler is not ready to use with € yet and is still hard to integrate as a non-developer. See the [roadmap](https://ich.taler.net/t/ngi-taler-roadmap) for more insights about the timeline of the project ⚠

## Subscribe to the newsletter

As GNU Taler is not yet ready to use, first be sure to get the latest news by subscribing to [Taler newsletter](https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/taler).

## Playing with KUDOS

At this stage, merchants can use the [Taler Demo](https://demo.taler.net) to experiment with the fictional KUDOS money. Once payment in Euro will be available, merchants will be able to register with the GLS TALER Exchange.

Merchant registration is similar to opening a business bank account to go through the Know Your Customer (KYC) regulation.

Watch this space for more information about both using the demo and future merchant registration process, as they become available.

## Integration

You have two options to integrate Taler payments to your e-shop: using an existing integration project or developing your own “from scratch”.

### Existing software integration projects

From the #TALER Integrations category, see if you can use a platform for the rest of the process and follow their instructions. Some other platforms will join in later on.

### “Taler From Scratch”

#### GNU Taler architecture

[GNU Taler architecture for a merchant](https://docs.taler.net/taler-merchant-manual.html#architecture-overview) consists of four main components : frontend, back-office, backend and database.

As the _merchant_, you’re in charge of setting up your interface (analog to a _payment terminal_) for Taler: the **frontend** facing the customer to communicate with the **backend** via the Merchant RESTful API.

The backend, configured with your Taler financial information, will then communicate with the Exchange (provided by the Taler Bank).

#### Follow the Merchant API Tutorial

GNU Taler’s official documentation provides both a [video](https://ich.taler.net/t/gnu-taler-tutorial-for-merchant-web-services-and-api/122) and a [text](https://docs.taler.net/taler-merchant-api-tutorial.html) tutorial to make your frontend interact with the Merchant API. Follow it to become a Taler wizard!
