TALER Integration with Odoo

TALER Integration in Odoo

This category is to discuss and implement TALER payment support for various Odoo applications.

This category, and the discussions here are unrelated to the Odoo company.

Odoo: All your business on one platform

Odoo is a suite of open source business apps that cover all your company needs: CRM, eCommerce, accounting, inventory, point of sale, project management, etc.

Odoo’s unique value proposition is to be at the same time very easy to use and fully integrated.

Description:

The Taler-Odoo Payment System (TOPS) integrates the GNU Taler payment system within Odoo (https://www.odoo.com/), a major suite of open-source business management apps with over 12 million users. With Odoo, users can create invoices for products they sell, websites to display them and much more.

This project aims to make an Odoo module that allows users to pay with Taler, akin to 18 other existing payment integrations, giving extra visibility to Taler. It is developed using the Odoo Framework, in Javascript and Python. The module integrates into and increase functionality of other existing Odoo modules (ticket sale, online shopping, invoices, etc.).

Installing the module allows merchants to offer a customer to use their Taler wallet to pay, allowing users to choose a payment system that respects their privacy.

The resulting module will be submitted to the Odoo Apps Store (Odoo Apps | Odoo Apps Store), which will ensure visibility and ease of installation for the merchants. A test mode that allows users to verify that everything is working properly will be included, as well as a thorough documentation explaining the user interface and detailing the module.

Important Milestones

  • The module will allow merchant to offer Taler payments in Odoo for:

    • Invoice payment with the Accounting app
    • Self-Ordering with the Point-of-Sale app
    • Ecommerce payment of
      • online shopping and online booking with the Website app
      • event tickets with the Sales app
  • Internationalization is planned, an English and a French version will be available when the module comes out (with easy translatability if someone wants to contribute).

  • The module will be available on the Odoo Apps Store for easy install, and on Codeberg for FLOSS reasons, with a GitHub mirror

Hi @Nemael
I’ve worked a bit with people who develop and use Odoo in France and Switzerland.
